Las Vegas Press Release, February !, 2010
2010-02-01 08:29Neon Venus Art Theater now exists in two cities—Las Vegas and Hollywood. In Las Vegas, the theater is currently expanding its Saturday drama classes for children, to include after school Theater and Arts programs. “We have a mission to bring theater education to the kids of the valley,” says Peter Valentino, who co-owns the theater with his wife, Lissette Napoleoni. “We have had great success at the theater with our kids plays—three so far and The Phantom Tollbooth now in production. Theater training helps kids free themselves from inhibitions and also connects them to their school studies. There is nothing so rewarding as seeing the children progress as people—to evolve in their abilities to communicate both on and off stage."
Located in the Las Vegas Arts District, the theater has received help from the mayor’s office at many junctures in its two year existence. Downtown is really starting to clean up and be a cultural destination, as so many have wished. As a result, kids come to the theater from all parts of Las Vegas. Some want to try a fun and enriching activity, whilst others want to be professional actors; Neon Venus Art Theater also recently opened in Hollywood in order to have a pipeline to the film industry for the very talented kids of Vegas.
The theaters were started by the band Neon Venus which remains active, playing here in Vegas and in Hollywood. The Neon Venus Theatre has been home to many wonderful performances of both Music and Drama, in addition to being a gallery for local artists and the band is keen to continue sharing the space with adult and children performers, alike.
